Context
The COVID-19 pandemic has caused unforeseen and untold economic damage to virtually all sectors of society worldwide. The resulting consequences at the European and global level, in terms of deaths, disruption to health systems, psychological impact, learning difficulties, economic slow-down and bankruptcies, will be immeasurable and long-lasting.
As the cultural, education, hospitality, travel and tourism sectors try to relaunch, it is important to ensure a safe transition with clear and easy to implement sanitary rules. In parallel, it is time to design preventive and cost-effective measures and for governments to develop regulatory frameworks to better protect against sanitary risks caused by contagious diseases in the future and prevent a similar situation whereby millions of lives are lost and economies come to a halt.
The objective of the webinar
This webinar entitled “Reopening the economy and improving long term resilience post-COVID-19" will serve as a platform to exchange recommendations for preparing an effective policy toolbox by capitalising upon the lessons learnt from the pandemic to improve preparedness and resilience against future sanitary crises or natural disasters. Mitigating the adverse effects of such crises will be critical to protecting the economy and vulnerable actors such as SMEs.
Panellists will have the opportunity to highlight their contribution to relaunching the economy, the challenges that they face and what they consider as the best way forward in terms of policy measures and the private sector’s adjustment to mitigate risks from contagious diseases.
At the same time, the webinar will give TIC Council the opportunity to present its newly agreed policy recommendations for mitigating risks from contagious diseases. The recommendations will be sent together with the invitation to the target audience.

The webinar will take place on Monday, 7th June 2021 at 15:30- 16:30 CEST.
Registrations will be open to all TIC Council Members and relevant stakeholders, as well as a larger external audience.
