TIC Council is organising a webinar in collaboration with the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO) on the rapidly emerging frauds and the increasing number of counterfeit Conformity Assessment certificates being utilized to assert the validity and safety of personal protection equipment (PPE) and medical devices during the COVID-19 pandemic.
 
The main role of this webinar is to alert the relevant stakeholders and share tips and useful information that could help in the identification of fake certificates and non-confirm equipment. While the world is fighting the COVID-19 pandemic, it is essential to support and work together with the law enforcement authorities and to help raise awareness among buyers from industries, municipalities or public institutions of this rapidly emerging fraud trends related to procurement of PPE and medical devices and the dangers these can pose.

As such, this virtual panel will bring together high-level speakers from the TIC industry, from from EUIPO, the European Anti-Fraud Office (OLAF) and EUROPOL providing the participants insights on the current status of the problem, coordinated actions and operations undertaken to fight the spread of rogue operators, as well as practical case studies from the TIC industry collected during this period. Additionally, the TIC Council members will share relevant tips on how to depict the fake certificates and how to proceed when in doubt.

The webinar will be open to all TIC Council Members and relevant stakeholders, enforcement authorities & EUIPO relevant contacts.
